Indoor Football centre opens at Bizspace.co.uk Wakefield South Yorkshire
Football teams across west & South Yorkshire raised a cheer at the end of January when the first ever indoor football facility in Wakefield opened its doors on the Bizspace Business Park at Thorne Mills.
The Wakefield Football Centre is the brainchild of Darren Hoyland, from Wrenthorpe, and three local long term friends who have all played together in the Wakefield football Leagues. “Over the years I’ve played for several local teams and I player managed the Waggon & Horses team for 13 years playing in the Saturday & Sunday leagues,” Darren comments.
“However, we disliked the fact that if we wished to play in any midweek indoor leagues we had to travel to Leeds as there were no local facilities. In fact, I’ve had the idea of an indoor football centre in Wakefield for past 12 years, but never found a building that suited our needs until last year when I made contact with Bizspace as the flexibility they provided enable me to turn the dream into a reality.
“We are passionate about providing the local community with a truly first class facility and one which we believe will have a positive knock on effect for local Saturday and Sunday leagues. The first to play at the centre included junior teams from Alverthorpe, Stanley, Wrenthorpe, Altofts and the Wakefield Jets and we’ve already had interest from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Wakefield FC.”
The Wakefield Football Centre has four pitches with the latest 3rd generation surface. Each pitch is 38 metres in length and they are ideal for 5/6-a-side games. Pitches can be booked by the hour and we can even make arrangements for 12 team tournaments. We also cater for childrens’ parties and corporate events. In addition, the centre has a refreshment area as well as changing/shower facilities for male, female and the disabled.
“With more than 110 locations nationwide, including a large number across Yorkshire, Bizspace centres can accommodate businesses of all sizes and types,” comments Julie Russell, centre manager. “So the Wakefield Football Centre is a perfect fit our style of flexible workspace. It’s great see that the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in Wakefield and we look forward working with Darren Hoyland, and his associates, to help make the new venture the outstanding success that it deserves to be.”
